Live Review : Frankie Cosmos + Ian Sweet @ ZDB

pluvieux lisboète, les rues sont déjà sombres et vides quand on arrive à la
galerie Zé Dos Bois – un de nos endroits favoris à Lisbonne. Sur place, l’ambiance
est à l’opposé du temps qu’il fait. A l’intérieur, cela bourdonne de vie et de
couleurs. Ce soir, c’est Frankie Cosmos et Ian Sweet à l’affiche. L’histoire d’amour entre Frankie Cosmos et le Portugal
semble à peine commencer, nous l’avions vu pour la première fois cet été au
festival Paredes de Coura, mais nous savons qu’elle est là pour durer. Aujourd’hui,
les voilà pour la première fois à Lisbonne en tant que tête d’affiche. L’incroyable
Ian Sweet les accompagne, et le combo est sublime.
Ian Sweet,
qui porte fièrement son nouveau bucket hat qu’elle s’est procuré comme souvenir
le jour même, ouvre le bal. Sur scène, c’est elle et sa guitare. En 2016, son album Shapeshifter avait déjà
fait parler de lui. Crush Crusher, sorti l’année passée, fut la consécration.
Elle nous dit avant sa dernière chanson que personne dans la salle n’est plus
fan de Frankie Cosmos qu’elle. Le public portugais est prêt à relever le défi.
Les
derniers échos des sons de Ian Sweet résonnent encore lorsque Greta Kline,
autrement appelée Frankie Cosmos, entre sur scène. Zé Dos Bois est une de nos
salles de concerts préférées dans la ville. Le line-up est toujours bien
réfléchie et les artistes choisis avec soin. Frankie Cosmos n’échappe pas à la règle. Le concert est intime, doux, au même niveau qu’il est intense et rock.
Greta est accompagnée par toute sa bande, les mélodies sont sublimes. Le point
culminant du concert est sans aucun doute quand le batteur du groupe quitte sa
batterie et prends possession du micro. Avez-vous déjà vu une salle complète
remplie d’un public portugais en délire ? C’est exactement ce qu’il s’en
est ensuit lorsqu’il a commencé à parler (exceptionnellement bien !)
portugais. La dynamique entre le groupe et salle était déjà très forte. On
sentait que le partage allait dans les deux sens. Toutefois, à partir de là, il
n’y eut plus aucun doute : Frankie Cosmos a gagné le cœur de tous ceux
présents dans la salle.
I’ts a rainy
Sunday in Lisbon, the streets are already dark and empty when we arrive at the
Zé Dos Bois gallery - one of our favorite venues in the city. There, the
atmosphere is the opposite of the weather. Inside, it buzzes with life and
colors. Tonight the line-up is made of Frankie Cosmos and Ian Sweet. The love
affair between Frankie Cosmos and Portugal seems to have only just begun, we
had seen it for the first time this summer at the Paredes de Coura festival. However,
we can tell it is going to last. Today, here they are for the first time in
Lisbon as headliner. The incredible Ian Sweet accompanies them, and the combo
is sublime.
Ian Sweet,
who proudly wears her new bucket hat that she got as a souvenir on that same
day, opens the ball. On stage, it's her and her guitar only. In 2016, her album
Shapeshifter had already been talked about. Crush Crusher, released last year,
was the consecration. She tells us before her last song that no one in the room
is more of a fan of Frankie Cosmos than she is. The Portuguese public is ready
to take up the challenge.
The last
echoes of Ian Sweet still resonate when Greta Kline, otherwise known as Frankie
Cosmos, comes on stage. Zé Dos Bois is one of our venues in the city, the
line-up is always well thought out and the artists carefully chosen. Frankie
Cosmos does not escape that. The concert is intimate, sweet, at the same level
as it is intense and rock. Greta is accompanied by her entire band, the
melodies are sublime. The highlight of the concert is undoubtedly when the
drummer of the group leaves his drums and takes possession of the microphone.
Have you ever seen a complete room filled with a delirious Portuguese audience?
That's exactly what happened when he started speaking (exceptionally well!) portuguese.
The dynamics between the group and the audiance was already very strong. We
felt that sharing went both ways. However, from then on, there was no longer
any doubt: Frankie Cosmos won the hearts of everyone in the room.
