The Silhouette Trilogy

Aquilo c’est Ben et Tom, deux jeunes anglais qui, il y a 3 ans ont décidé d’écrire des chansons tristes au piano avec de magnifiques harmonies ensemble. Il y a donc 3 ans, Aquilo est né et depuis ils n’ont fait que parler d’eux. Ils ont sorti quelques EPs mais ils ont surtout passé ces 3 ans à travailler leur premier album sortit le 27 janvier dernier, un chef-d’œuvre mais surtout un bel aboutissement de leur travail.  Cet album a été écrit et enregistré entre Silverdale, leur ville natale, Londres et l’Islande, où ils ont retrouvé Olafur Arnalds pour, entre autres, enregistrer leur single Silhouette. Ce qui nous amène à The Silhouette Trilogy. Avant la sortie de leur album, Ben et Tom ont partagé 3 vidéos pour illustrer leurs chansons You Won’t Know Where You Stand, Silhouette et Almost Over. C’est une belle mais triste histoire racontée en 3 parties qui colle parfaitement à l’univers que les Anglais se sont créés ces dernières années. Vous pouvez retrouver les 3 vidéos ci-dessous.

Aquilo is made by Tom and Ben, two young British who, 3 years decided to write sad songs on the piano with wonderful harmonies together. So 3 years ago, Aquilo was born and since then, people haven't stopped talking about them. They released a few EPs, but they mostly worked on their first album – released on the 27th of January – a real masterpiece but mostly a great achievement of their work. The album was written and recorded between Silverdale, their hometown, London and Iceland, where they met with Olafur Arnalds to, among others, record their single Silhouette. Which brings us to The Silhouette Trilogy. Before they released their album, Ben and Tom shared 3 new videos to illustrate three of their songs – in this particular order : You Won’t Know Where You Stand, Silhouette and Almost Over. This beautiful but sad story reflects perfectly the universe created by the band those past years. You can watch the 3 videos below. 

Et parce que le groupe ne fait pas les choses à moitié, ils ont également publié la vidéo de Harvey Pearson, leur très talentueux photographe et vidéaste mais surtout ami qui les as suivis ces 3 dernières années et qui a documenté le tout. Par-dessus ces magnifiques images vous pouvez entendre le groupe expliquer comment ils ont créé leur album à travers le temps et les endroits où ils sont allés.

And because the band does the job properly, they also published Harvey Pearson’ video, their very talented photographer, filmaker but mostly friend. Harvey has followed them since the begining and documented all their adventures. And in addition of all those wonderful images, you can hear the band explain the writing and recording process of their album throughout time and space.
