LIVE REVIEW : Lewis @ Le Pop Up Du Label

Après la sortie de la version acoustique de son album Midnight le 15 septembre dernier, Lewis Watson a repris le chemin des concerts et j’ai eu la chance de le voir au Pop du Label le 29 septembre.

Following the release of the acoustic version of his album Midnight last September 15th, Lewis Watson hit the road and I had the chance to see him live at the Pop Up du Label on September 29th.

C’est devant une salle pleine et sous une salve d’applaudissements que le jeune anglais de 24 ans a débuté son set acoustique mélangeant des chansons de son nouvel album avec de plus anciennes, ce qui a ravi les fans de la première heure.

De Maybe We’re Home à Deep the Water en passant par Little Light ou Forever, il a hypnotisé son public en proposant de versions plus brutes de ses morceaux.

Au milieu de son set, Lewis est descendu de la scène pour jouer une version intime de Halo au milieu du public, un vrai moment où le temps semblait suspendu.

It’s in front of a full venue and under a round of applause that the 24 year-old singer started his acoustic set, mixing new songs from his last album with old ones, making fans happy.

From Maybe We’re Home to Deep the Water through Little Light or Forever, he hypnotized his audience offering stripped down versions of his songs.

In the middle of his set, Lewis came down from the stage to sing an unplugged version of Halo in the middle of the crowd, a real moment where the time seems to stand still. 

Le fait de proposer un set acoustique, sans musicien et la guitare comme seul accompagnement a réussi à créer une atmosphère particulière et unique dans la petite salle du Pop du Label où le public reprenait les refrains en chœur. Cela a permis au jeune chanteur de mettre en valeur sa voix, cassée à certains moments, et de transmettre sa passion pour la musique avec l’humilité qui le caractérise tant.
 

La présence de Lewis sur scène est assez incroyable, il a cette capacité à réchauffer en très peu de temps une salle pourtant pleine en interagissant avec elle. Tout au long du concert, il nous remercie d’être là, de le soutenir et promet de ne pas attendre à nouveau 3 ans pour revenir en France où son public l’attendait de pied ferme.  

Peu d’artistes parviennent à maîtriser leur public au point de le rendre silencieux sur certains morceaux et de le faire chanter sur d’autres, et c’est le pari que Lewis Watson a relevé le challenge avec énormément de passion. Si vous avez l’occasion de le voir en live, je vous recommande fortement d’y aller, vous ne serez pas du tout déçus !

Offering an acoustic set, with no band and only the guitar as a support made the atmosphere so unique and special in this tiny venue where the crowd sang along.

Thanks to that, the young singer really manage to highlight his voice which cracked at some times and convey his passion for music with humility. Lewis’s presence on stage is quite amazing, he has this ability to warm up in a few minutes a full venue by joking around and interacting with his audience.

Throughout the gig, he thanked us many times for being here, for singing along et for supporting him and he promised no to wait another 3 years to come back to France where his fans looked forward to see him.    

A few artists can control their audience to the point of making it completely silent on some songs et making it singing along on others, and Lewis Watson did that with real passion. If you have the chance to see him live, I highly recommend you to go see him, you won’t be disappointed !
